When you’re seeking great accommodation, it’s all about convenience, location and cost. With the big smoke an hour’s drive away, we don’t often consider Brisbane as a fabulous weekend getaway. We tend to opt for Sydney or Melbourne to get our city fix, but many don’t realise that Brisbane is vast becoming one of Australia’s coolest cities. Believe it! If you haven’t been in a while, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear that the culinary culture is massive, the bars are happening and the shopping is fab! And finding a great place to stay? Well that’s too easy! With NEXT Hotel now in town, this is the one place that’ll suit every Sassy babe and her fellow explorer.
NEXT Hotel is centrally located (tick) on Brisbane’s vibrant Queen Street Mall directly opposite the Myer Centre (another tick), and boasts brand new contemporary decor with a modern twist. Opened recently for the G20 Summit, this hotel is tailored for the modern business(wo)man, which kind of makes sense when you take a look around. Everything looks like an exclusive Business Class Lounge. With workstations complete with iMacs, to a lounge area to take in the daily international news and a groovy bar that spills out onto the pool area, they have totally nailed it in terms of accessibility and comfort. There’s even sleep pods for those frequent flyers! How flash!
What I haven’t mentioned is that everything is accessible from your very own Samsung Galaxy smartphoneprovided in your room – and by everything, I mean everything! Your hotel room, including the TV right down to the air conditioning, is controlled by the smartphone. How cool! The Samsung Galaxy is yours for your stay and can be taken off the premises while you take in Brisbane’s offerings. With a simple call back to reception you can order room service of your choice and it’ll be waiting for you when you return. Tick, tick, tick!
You may recall me mentioning NEXT Hotel when I had the ultimate dining experience at Jamie’s Italian, which I highly recommend you add to your dining itinerary. It’s only a short walk away from this fabulously stylish hotel and well worth the indulgence right before you take a relaxing nap in your huge hotel bed. The hotel room itself is so inviting with its fresh new fittings and contemporary luxe style. With wide windows offering natural light, you can take in the city and river views while unwinding in pure comfort. After waking from a soothing and restful sleep, we ventured down to the pool (that faces Queen Street Mall) for a morning dip before our departure. Laying poolside in the sun was the perfect start to the day, finishing our experience on such a high.
If Sunday’s commitments back home weren’t pending, we would’ve easily settled in nicely for a day of lounging and sipping on cocktails to really feel the pleasure of a city escape. We also would’ve tried Lennon’s Restaurant & Bar which we hear is all the rage in Brisbane town. With Check Out kiosks available for a quick and easy departure for those on the go, we were able to leave feeling de-stressed and totally satisfied.
